Safe Arbors tree health

Our trees are threatened by insect pests accidentally introduced from Asia.

Emerald Ash Borer THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

This small green beetle from China threatens to kill all native Ash trees in North America. Arbormectin, whose active ingredient is Emamectin benzoate, has been found to be the most effective tool in protecting Ash trees from the Emerald Ash Borer. This is borne out by University studies in the hardest hit areas of Michigan and northern Ohio. Treatment is by trunk injection (See below) and is effective for 2 years.

Asian Wooly Hackberry Aphid Adults look like floating white lint and develop huge numbers by fall. As they feed, high pressure tree sap blows through thier bodies and onto everything below. A sooty mold grows in this energy rich mess turning it all black.

Hackberry trees can be treated with systemic insecticides in early Spring to kill these bugs.
